Argentine President Javier Milei reacted to Lionel Messi's official retirement from the national football team, according to infohub.kz.

According to the outlet, the head of the Argentine state responded to Messi's final match for the national team. "Thank you very much, Lionel Messi! The best in history, without any doubt. Thank you very much, Lionel Messi, for all the magic you gave us on and off the pitch, showing the whole world that through hard work you can achieve even the impossible. Messi is something incredible! Let's go, Argentina, damn it!" Milei said to the footballer.

Recall that the Argentina men's national football team secured a resounding home victory over Benin in a historic friendly in Buenos Aires. The match was Lionel Messi's farewell appearance for the Argentina national team.

Messi made his debut for Argentina on August 17, 2005. Since then he has played 208 matches for the team, scored 126 goals and provided 70 assists — all national team records.

In 2022, Messi became a world champion. He also won two Copa América titles (2021, 2024) with Argentina and twice took silver at the World Cup (2014, 2026).
