On the last Sunday of August, the 30th, the Karaganda region traditionally celebrated Miner's Day. The satellite cities, home to thousands of coal industry workers and entire mining dynasties, together with Qarmet company, organized large-scale festivities, reports infohub.kz.
Simultaneously, in Saran, Shakhtinsk, and Abay, big festive concerts took place. Miners, industry veterans, their families, and thousands of residents gathered in the city squares. The regional akim (governor) Yermaganbet Bulekpaev, Chairman of the Management Board of Qarmet Petr Trushin, and Director of the Coal Department of Qarmet Zhakan Mukhamedzhanov congratulated those present on their professional holiday.
"This holiday has always been and remains one of the most important in our region. Miners make a significant contribution to the development of our region. I sincerely congratulate coal industry workers and veterans, and wish them good health, family well-being, and, of course, safe work," said the regional akim.
Popular Kazakh artists Luina, Nurzhan Kermenbaev, and Bayansulu performed on stage. Favorite songs, bright performances, and the atmosphere of a big folk holiday united three mining cities at once.
"Miners are truly unique people. Your profession requires qualities that not everyone possesses. And above all, it is enormous trust in each other. Every day you work in difficult, harsh conditions, where it is especially important to know that reliable comrades are nearby, ready to help and support at any moment. That is your strength and special value. Thank you for your hard work and a low bow from all of us!" congratulated Petr Trushin, Chairman of the Management Board of Qarmet.
For Saran, Shakhtinsk, and Abay, Miner's Day is more than a professional date. The history and development of these cities have been linked for decades to the coal industry and working people. Generations of miners have grown up here, labor dynasties have formed, and traditions have been created that continue today.
That is why Miner's Day is traditionally celebrated here in a special way – with the whole city. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues, spend an evening with loved ones, and once again express respect to those who work underground every day.
The bright finale of the festive programs was fireworks that illuminated the sky over Saran, Shakhtinsk, and Abay, putting an effective end to the big miner's holiday.
The concerts in the three cities were part of Qarmet's extensive program for Miner's Day, covering cities across the entire mining region.
