Gizzat Baitursynov, Vice Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, spoke at a government briefing about the risks of using artificial intelligence and commented on the actions of an Almaty akimat employee who used AI to remove trash from a photograph, infohub.kz reports.
According to the vice minister, artificial intelligence will never replace people and will always serve as an assistant.
"Roughly speaking, you can speed up some work with AI, automate certain business processes. If there is a large flow of information, AI can be used as a filter. But in any case, the final decision will be made by a human — that is our position. As for the akimat employee: this is not AI's fault; here AI is just a tool. We need to address the person who failed to do the work and find out why. AI here is purely a tool; it can be used for good purposes or for things like this. I have nothing more to add," Baitursynov said.
Recall that in June, an official was dismissed from the Bostandyk district akimat in Almaty after using AI to remove trash from a photo and presenting it as the real result of a cleanup.
