A large-scale search operation in the mountains near Almaty has ended successfully: a boy born in 2015, who went missing during a walk with his parents in the Ayusai Gorge, has been found alive. The child was discovered above the Ayusai waterfall at an altitude of about 2,000 meters, reports infohub.kz.
The search lasted more than a day. About 160 people were involved, including employees of the Emergency Situations Department, the Monitoring and Rapid Response Center, the Republican Rescue Service "Barys", police, the Medeu forestry, volunteers from the DSS, military personnel, border guards of the National Security Committee, the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other services. An operational headquarters was deployed to coordinate efforts.
Canine units, drones, and Kazaviaspas aviation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were brought in. The search was conducted simultaneously from the ground and air and continued throughout the night. Foot patrols with dog handlers and drones covered more than 6 km of the Ayusai Gorge and the bed of the Bolshaya Almatinka River. A helicopter flew over the search area.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of rescuers and volunteers, the boy was found and handed over to his parents. The child's condition has not been disclosed.
Earlier it was reported that in the Bayanaul district of Pavlodar region, rescuers helped five tourists, including three children, descend from Mount Akbet. The group had climbed to a height of 1,027 meters but could not return on their own. No medical assistance was required.
