The Mitsubishi ASX VR-e electric crossover in its top GSR trim has outpowered the most aggressive production version of the Lancer Evolution: its two electric motors produce 459 hp, and it sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, infohub.kz reports.

The new model is built on the Taiwanese Foxtron Bria EV, developed with input from Pininfarina. All versions come with a 57.7 kWh battery.

The three lower trims — LS, Aspire and Exceed — get a single 229 hp electric motor on the rear axle and rear-wheel drive. They accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.

The flagship GSR adds a second electric motor up front and all-wheel drive. Combined output reaches 459 hp and 700 Nm. For comparison, the British special-edition Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-440 MR produced 440 hp. The EV beats it on power, though fans of the legendary Evo may not warm to this format.

Mitsubishi has not yet released range figures. DC fast charging supports up to 134 kW, while AC charging is rated at up to 6.6 kW.

The cabin features a 15.6-inch central infotainment screen and a 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster. The Exceed and GSR trims add a panoramic glass roof, a power tailgate and a 12-speaker audio system.

The ASX VR-e will launch in Australia first. Prices will be announced later in 2026. The car will come with a five-year or 100,000 km warranty, extendable to ten years or 200,000 km with servicing at Mitsubishi dealers. The traction battery carries a separate eight-year or 160,000 km warranty.

Earlier, Kursiv Auto reported that the 2028 Mitsubishi Outlander could get four electric motors.
