Advanced medical diagnostics are becoming more accessible to rural residents: the Qazaqstan Halqyna Foundation has handed over two modern mobile medical complexes equipped with computed tomography scanners, mammography units and ultrasound equipment to the Turkistan region, infohub.kz reports.

Residents of remote villages will no longer have to spend time and money traveling to the regional center for complex diagnostics. Doctors will come to them to detect dangerous diseases, including cancer, in time.

According to the Kazakh Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology, one of the complexes is equipped with a modern CT scanner, while the other has a mammography system and expert-class ultrasound equipment.

"The complexes are particularly important for improving access to cancer care. Performing computed tomography, mammography and ultrasound on site makes it possible to detect suspicious changes in time and refer patients for further examination and treatment," the statement says.

According to Yerbol Bekmukhambetov, chairman of the board of KazNIIOiR, the mobile medical complexes operate on a permanent basis in three regions of Kazakhstan. More than 22,000 Kazakhstanis undergo examinations with their help every year. About 40% of them are citizens without medical insurance.

"During these examinations, 1,409 cases of precancerous conditions and 627 cases of malignant neoplasms were detected. These results show how important it is to ensure access to modern diagnostics for rural residents," he emphasized.

A month earlier, Kursiv reported that two mobile medical complexes with CT, mammography and ultrasound machines were sent to remote settlements in the Zhambyl region. They were also purchased with support from the Qazaqstan Halqyna Foundation.
