Top management of Moinak Hydroelectric Power Plant named after U.D. Kantayev, located about 150 km from Almaty, received remuneration of 101 million tenge in 2025, reports infohub.kz.
As the company notified, during the past year the board consisted of 10 people in total, who held four positions at different periods. In particular, from April 4, 2022 to January 30, 2025, the chairman of the board was Galymzhan Aidarbekov, from January 30, 2025 this position was held by Bakytbek Zhanabaev, and from December 2, 2025, the chairman of the board became Gazi Ismukhambetov. Thus, three heads of the company changed during the year.
From June 10, 2024, Anuar Munalbaev worked as First Deputy Chairman of the Board – Chief Engineer, who was replaced by Kairat Kenesbaev on May 12, 2025. Since August 20, 2020, Aset Karymsak was Deputy Chairman of the Board for Economics and Finance, and from June 24, 2025 he was replaced by Alibek Kuanbai. Since March 31, 2021, Kerim Baltabaev has held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Board for Strategic Development and HPP Support.
At the time of writing, the HPP website lists four members of the board: Chairman of the Board Gazi Ismukhambetov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board – Chief Engineer Tulegen Kochkinbaev, Deputy Chairman of the Board for Strategic Development and Support Kerim Baltabaev, and Deputy Chairman of the Board Alibek Kuanbai.
Thus, 101 million tenge on average was distributed among four people in the specified positions. For comparison, in 2024 the remuneration of top management amounted to 82.3 million tenge.
Moinak HPP increased its net profit in 2025 by 12.1% to 15.8 billion tenge, compared to 14.1 billion tenge a year earlier. The station's revenue increased by 1.6% to 26.2 billion tenge, compared to 25.8 billion tenge in 2024. As of the end of 2025, the company's retained earnings amounted to 27.1 billion tenge.
Moinak HPP is located in the upper reaches of the Charyn River and was launched in December 2012. Its installed capacity is 300 MW – two hydroelectric units of 150 MW each. On average, the hydroelectric power plant generates about 1 billion kWh of electricity per year.
The HPP serves as a flexible source of power to cover peak loads in southern Kazakhstan, that is, when electricity demand rises sharply. The company is registered in the village of Moinak, Kegen district, Almaty region.
Moinak HPP provides electricity to a fifth of the population of the Almaty region. Its construction cost amounted to 54 billion tenge. Financing for the project was provided by Chinese and Kazakhstani development banks.
The owner of Moinak Hydroelectric Power Plant named after U.D. Kantayev is Qazaq Green Power PLC, which belongs to Samruk-Energy (a subsidiary of Samruk-Energy).
