A resident of Almaty has posted a video criticizing the famous bubblegum-flavored ice cream from Kokshetau, as reported by Orda.kz.
"This is Tiffany blue, hello? And where is the advertised blue color? Do you see the difference between the packaging and reality? Sorry, Kokshetau people, but I knew not to expect anything good from you. It looks like someone took a bite out of it. And look how it's filled? Did someone sit on it?" the woman says sarcastically.
She also disliked the taste. "Yes, it tastes like gum, but not in a good way," she stated.
The video drew many angry comments from Kokshetau residents, who are proud of their signature treat. "Eat your own ice cream that's all uniform in color. Leave ours alone. It tastes like childhood – a natural, honest product that manufacturers have managed to preserve for decades. Thank our factory for even selling it in your city," one local reacted.
They pointed out that shape can be deformed during transport, storage, and temperature changes. But what surprised Kokshetau residents most was the personal attack. "Why do you have to insult an entire city and all its residents? Ice cream is a matter of taste, but you managed to offend the whole population," users responded.
But people didn't stop there and filmed a video of ice cream from a store: "Almaty residents, maybe you don't know how to deliver it? Perfect creamy ice cream in a whole cup, not melted. Any more questions?"
Residents of other cities also came to the defense of the famous dessert, noting that Kokshetau ice cream is one of the most delicious and natural in Kazakhstan.
Earlier it was reported that in the first five months of 2026, Kazakhstan produced 35,100 tons of ice cream, with the majority of output coming from the Almaty region.
