A family in California was attacked by an aggressive swarm of bees during a walk in a park. A mother and her five-year-old son were hospitalized in serious condition, according to the website infohub.kz.
The incident occurred in San Diego County, California. The woman and her child were walking along a trail in a nature park when hundreds of bees suddenly attacked them. The father, who was nearby, tried to divert the insects to himself to protect his family, then called emergency services at 911.
Rescuers and medics who arrived found the victims with multiple stings all over their bodies. Due to the severity of their condition and the risk of allergic reactions, the mother and child were evacuated by medical helicopter to a nearby trauma center for emergency treatment.
Animal control officials noted that the bees displayed unusual aggression, likely defending their hive on a hot day. County authorities temporarily closed part of the park for visitor safety.
