Building a personal computer could become even more expensive: leading motherboard manufacturers, including Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI, are planning another round of price increases in the third quarter of this year, according to infohub.kz.
According to Asian industry sources, the main reason for the price hike is the rapid rise in production costs. Printed circuit boards (PCBs) could see price increases of up to 50% due to more expensive raw materials. Additionally, prices for copper heatsinks, surface-mount capacitors, power components, and controller chips have risen significantly.
The situation is compounded by an overall decline in DIY PC sales. High demand for memory used in AI servers has already driven up prices for RAM modules and storage, prompting many users to postpone upgrading their systems. To maintain business profitability and support distributors amid falling demand, vendors are forced to pass increased costs on to consumers.
