A crime committed more than a decade ago has finally been solved. Thanks to modern forensic methods, the identity of the suspect in the rape and murder of a 62-year-old woman in 2012 in the Pavlodar region has been established, reports infohub.kz.
According to the information media portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2012, a brutal crime was committed on the territory of one of the gardening societies: the woman was raped and killed. At that time, despite all efforts, the suspect could not be identified. However, the work to solve this crime did not stop for a single day.
As a result of the joint work of operational officers and forensic experts, as well as thanks to a check against the DNA database, they managed to trace the alleged criminal. He turned out to be a previously convicted man born in 1964. The DNA analysis confirmed his involvement in the crime. Under the weight of irrefutable evidence, the man confessed.
The suspect has been detained and, with court approval, arrested. This case clearly demonstrates the capabilities of modern forensics. The trace that 14 years ago did not allow identifying the criminal has today become the key to his exposure.
