Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka, ranked 13th in the world, commented on her defeat in the fourth round of the US Open 2026 against Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina, reports infohub.kz.
The match ended 6:1, 6:4 in favor of Rybakina, who is the world No. 2. Osaka admitted she does not feel disappointed with the result. "Honestly, right now I'm not upset. It's a very strange feeling. Last year I wasn't too upset either. Amanda Anisimova played a crazy match then. Maybe I'm just getting older, but I don't feel sadness from losing," the athlete said.
According to Osaka, she is glad that she now has a different attitude towards losses. "I try to learn much more from them. Honestly, if you asked me if I'm sad today, I'd say I'm only upset because I couldn't push off with my leg properly. But looking at my life—my daughter is healthy, and everything is fine in my family. I had the opportunity to play at this Grand Slam tournament. I went as far as I could, so things should only get better from here," the Japanese player added.
Recall that Elena Rybakina reached the quarterfinals of the US Open for the first time in her career. Thus, she has now reached this stage at all four Grand Slam tournaments.
