Kazakh boxer Natalya Bogdanova has become a two-time bronze medalist at the Asian Games: at the 2026 tournament in Japan's Aichi-Nagoya region, she fell short of the final, losing in the semifinals, infohub.kz reports.
In the semifinal bout in the up-to-75 kg weight class, the 27-year-old Kazakh faced Lovlina Borgohain of India. Bogdanova took the first and third rounds by a narrow margin, while all five judges awarded the second round to the Indian. On the overall tally, Borgohain won by split decision, 3:2.
Borgohain will therefore continue her pursuit of gold in the final, while Bogdanova takes bronze at the Asian Games. At the 2022 Games in Hangzhou, the Kazakh also won a medal of the same color, but competed in the up-to-66 kg weight class.
Bogdanova is the reigning world champion in the up-to-70 kg weight class. The international federation World Boxing named her the best female boxer of 2025.
Kazakhstan's women's national boxing team has finished its run at the 2026 Asian Games with two bronze medals. Earlier, Alua Balkibekova lost in the semifinals in the up-to-51 kg division.
