Ukraine has gained access to the purchase of weapons and ammunition through the procurement agency of the North Atlantic Alliance, the website infohub.kz reports. The decision was made public in a Financial Times article.

Kyiv is entering into a partnership with the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA). The move will allow Ukraine to work more closely with Western allies and opens an additional channel for the country to acquire armaments.

"This gives Ukraine the opportunity to create a more structured framework for using the full range of our capabilities: procurement expertise, support services and access to an advanced industrial base. Economies of scale will be achieved," the publication quoted Jacqueline Borsboom, director of the Agency for Support Operations, as saying.

According to the Financial Times, granting Ukraine access to procurement through the NATO agency builds on an April decision to allow Ukrainian defense companies to take part in tenders for the supply of complete forces.

Last week, NSPA held an industry event in Kyiv attended by about 150 Ukrainian companies. The meeting explained how manufacturers can register as eligible suppliers and compete for contracts.
