At a briefing at Kazakhstan's National Bank, Chairman Timur Suleimenov answered journalists' questions about the launch of an anti-fraud website and anti-fraud assistant developed jointly with Kazakh banks, the website infohub.kz reports.
"We wanted to name this assistant after Frodo Baggins — Antifrodo, who fights fraud," Timur Suleimenov said. "This is work we carry out together with the banks. We had this website (antifraud.kz — ed. note), but it was not very functional."
According to him, the resource's functionality has been expanded. Users can now view grey lists, check their location, and, if necessary, unblock their card and phone by submitting a corresponding application. In addition, an intelligent assistant operates on the portal, ready to answer any questions on the subject.
Recall that Kazakhstan has an Anti-Fraud Center of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which combats cyber fraud. It maintains a special database of suspicious accounts and transactions.
At the same time, the center itself does not block accounts and cards and does not decide whether to add or remove citizens from the relevant databases. Banks themselves restrict services based on the information received.
We previously reported on what Kazakh citizens should do if their accounts were blocked after being added to the Anti-Fraud Center's database.
