Unfavorable meteorological conditions (UMC) are expected in Almaty and 13 other cities of Kazakhstan on September 23, according to Kazhydromet, as reported by infohub.kz.
According to weather forecasters, UMC are predicted in Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk, Kokshetau, Aktobe, and Almaty, and at night — in Kostanay, Karaganda, Balkhash, Temirtau, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey, Ridder, Atyrau, and Astana.
Specialists explain that unfavorable meteorological conditions arise from a combination of calm, weak wind, fog, and temperature inversion. As a result, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, which can lead to deterioration in air quality.
Weather forecasters warn that during such periods the risk of negative health effects increases, especially for people with chronic diseases.
Air pollution levels are influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity, and air temperature.
Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near roads and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.
People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as allergy sufferers, are recommended to carry necessary medications. Experts advise limiting physical activity outdoors and, if possible, moving exercise indoors.
