An unidentified woman has been a patient at the Kordai Central District Hospital in Kazakhstan's Zhambyl region for about three years. She was brought in in serious condition without any documents, and efforts to establish who she is have so far failed, the website infohub.kz reports.

The story drew widespread attention after a video was posted online. The video's author claimed that medical staff had left the patient in a utility room and were not providing her with care. The hospital denied this.

Nazgul Tobyshakova, deputy chief physician of the Kordai Central District Hospital, said the woman remembers nothing about herself. Her address and family ties could not be established either. There is also no information about the patient in Kazakhstan's information systems.

"Because of this, we cannot identify her. She is currently in the surgical department receiving treatment," Tobyshakova said.

The woman appears to be around 60 years old. Doctors declined to disclose her diagnosis but noted that they had spent three years trying to establish her identity and find her relatives.

Medical staff also tried to send the woman to adaptation centers in Taraz and Almaty, but were unable to do so. The patient remains in the hospital.

The police are working to identify the woman. According to a preliminary version, she may be a native of Kyrgyzstan, but this information has not yet been confirmed.
