The devastating floods in Nepal have caused at least $2.56 billion in damage, reports infohub.kz.
Dharma Raj Upreti, head of Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, revealed the scale of losses. According to him, the disaster damaged property, homes, and infrastructure to that amount.
About $52.6 million will be needed for recovery efforts in the first four months. These funds will be used to restore roads, build temporary shelters, and provide the population with drinking water and electricity.
According to the latest data, the death toll has exceeded 1,200 people.
Recall that on August 26, a landslide occurred near the border crossing between China and Nepal, affecting road traffic, communications, and power supply.
Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that three Kazakh women are being searched for in the disaster zone on the Nepal-China border. It also became known that unidentified flood victims in Nepal have begun to be buried in mass graves.
