Nepal has been hit by severe weather again: four days of torrential rain triggered floods and landslides across the country. At least 21 people have died, five are missing and five others were injured, according to infohub.kz.
The bad weather raged from September 24 to 27. It forced the evacuation of about 3,000 people and damaged or destroyed hundreds of homes.
A new warning was issued after the Narayani River in central Nepal rose above the danger mark of nine meters and began flooding settlements.
Landslides also blocked several highways leading to Chitwan, a key transport hub linking different regions of the country. Authorities urged residents of low-lying areas to remain vigilant, as continued rain increases the risk of further floods and landslides.
According to the latest data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 14 people died in landslides. Another five are missing in landslide-related incidents.
Floods killed four people, and three others died in the ongoing heavy downpours.
