Netflix has released the first trailer for "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew." The new adaptation of C.S. Lewis's fantasy series is directed by Greta Gerwig, the filmmaker behind "Barbie," according to infohub.kz.

The film tells the story of how Narnia came to be. It is based on C.S. Lewis's book "The Magician's Nephew" — the sixth volume in publication order but the first chronologically in the book series. It is the book that reveals to readers the origins of the magical world.

Gerwig directed and wrote the screenplay. She previously earned Oscar nominations for "Barbie," one of the most talked-about film hits of 2023. Netflix describes the new "Narnia" as an epic adventure for audiences of all generations.

The cast includes David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell, along with Daniel Craig and Carey Mulligan. Emma Mackey, known for the series "Sex Education," will play the White Witch Jadis, while Meryl Streep will voice Aslan the Lion.

The film will open worldwide on February 12, 2027. Two days earlier, on February 10, it will screen at special preview showings in IMAX format. It will arrive on Netflix on April 2, 2027.
