A new bridge over the Uil River in the Aktobe region, destroyed by the 2024 floods, has been put into operation, reports infohub.kz.

According to the regional akimat, reconstruction of the bridge on the road leading to the village of Uil has been fully completed in the Uil district. The grand opening took place on August 22. The event was attended by Deputy Akim of Aktobe region Asylbek Yessenbayev, district officials, representatives of the contracting company, honorary citizens, and residents of the village.

"We are on the verge of handing over the long-awaited new bridge that will connect Uil with the regional center. Given the complexity and importance of the facility, construction was under strict technical control from the design stage to the present day," noted Asylbek Yessenbayev.

The deputy head of the region emphasized that the bridge was built in two stages, including extensive and lengthy underground works. According to him, the new bridge has become one of the largest bridge structures in the region and will ensure the safety of passenger traffic.

The akimat noted that during the 2024 flood, the bridge over the river on the road to the village of Uil was washed out and seriously damaged. In the same year, dismantling of the existing bridge was carried out. In January 2025, the design and estimate documentation was completed and received a positive expert review. The total cost of the facility is 3.2 billion tenge. The length of the reconstructed bridge is 280 meters.

It will be recalled that in March 2025, it was reported that the village of Uil could only be reached by motorboat because the temporary crossing had been washed away. Then the authorities said they would build a new temporary bridge for residents.
