Astana is completing the landscaping of a new square behind the K. Kuanyshbayev Theater, which will become part of the 'Myngzhyldyk' alley — one of the capital's largest renovation projects, reports infohub.kz.
Trees and shrubs have already been planted in the square, pedestrian paths laid out, and recreation areas and public spaces for walks equipped. According to the Astana Urbanism Center, the square will serve as a natural extension of the theater grounds and will be officially opened to residents in the near future.
Earlier, city authorities stated that they would continue developing the 'Myngzhyldyk' alley this year. The project envisions creating a continuous pedestrian route with new green zones, renovated sidewalks, and public spaces. Urbanists have already presented a visualization of the alley's future appearance.
Recall that in June 2023, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev criticized the alley's appearance at a meeting on Astana's development. Later, the city administration explained the unsatisfactory condition of the area by ongoing housing construction.
