Residents of an Astana neighborhood say they have long complained about a hotel next to residential buildings after the body of a newborn girl was discovered in the sewer. According to them, the establishment regularly hosts fights, loud parties, and other incidents, but appeals to police and authorities have not changed the situation, reports infohub.kz.

As local residents recounted on social media, the hotel was built right next to a residential building several years ago. Almost every night they hear screams and noise, and neighbors become unwilling witnesses to what happens. The author of the post noted that police officers regularly respond to calls, but the situation does not improve. She said a month ago a man died at the hotel, an incident many in the area knew about.

The case that sparked the greatest outrage, after which the post went viral, was the discovery of a premature baby girl's body in the common sewer at night. The woman claims that one of the hotel guests gave birth to the child and then pushed it down the drain. "We immediately told criminal investigation officers that it couldn't be among the residents — it was 100% hotel guests. They replied: 'You mean that hotel? We know it's a drug den there,'" she wrote.

The Astana Police Department said a criminal case has been opened and an investigation is underway. "We are conducting a set of investigative and operational measures, appointing necessary forensic examinations. During the pre-trial investigation, a person involved in the commission of the criminal offense has been identified," police commented.
