Two Astana residents have been arrested for five days for setting off fireworks at night near residential buildings, reports infohub.kz.
The first incident involved a 50-year-old man who set off fireworks near a hotel to celebrate the birthday of his future daughter-in-law. The fireworks disturbed the peace of residents in nearby residential complexes. The court found him guilty of petty hooliganism and sentenced him to five days of arrest.
In the second case, a 26-year-old man set off fireworks near an apartment building after a Kazakh wedding tradition known as "kyz uzatu" (seeing off the bride). His actions also violated public order, and the court imposed a similar sentence.
Police reminded that setting off fireworks near residential buildings, especially at night, disturbs citizens' peace and may pose a safety threat.
"Celebratory events should bring only positive emotions without causing inconvenience to others," police noted.
