Last night, police in Almaty conducted a large-scale operation, setting up mobile checkpoints at the city's most accident-prone areas. Within a few hours, officers detected over seventy traffic violations, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Almaty Police Department, the raids took place in Alatau district, which traditionally sees a high rate of accidents. Special attention was paid to Ryskulov and Raiymbek avenues and Sain Street. The mobile checkpoints were organized on the "bottleneck" principle — at points where traffic narrows, allowing control over all passing vehicles.
During one shift, police issued 76 administrative protocols. Among the violations were two cases of drunk driving and twelve incidents related to road accidents. Also in the patrol's focus were dangerous maneuvers, ignoring traffic signs and markings, lack of necessary documents, and other violations that could lead to serious crashes.
The Almaty Police Department emphasized that increased police presence on the most accident-prone roads will continue. The main goal is to stop dangerous driver behavior before it turns into a tragedy on the road.
