Adverse meteorological conditions that trap pollutants in the atmosphere are forecast for Almaty and seven other cities in Kazakhstan on October 13, Kazhydromet reported, according to infohub.kz.

According to weather forecasters, the adverse weather conditions are expected in Almaty, Astana, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, Balkhash, Temirtau, and Aktobe, and during the night in Uralsk.

Specialists explain that these conditions form when calm, light wind, fog, and temperature inversion combine. As a result, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, leading to deteriorating air quality.

Forecasters warn that during such periods the risk of negative health effects increases, especially for people with chronic diseases.

Air pollution levels are influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity, and air temperature.

Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near highways and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.

People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as those with allergies, are advised to carry necessary medications. Experts recommend limiting physical activity outdoors and, if possible, moving exercise indoors.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that storm warnings were issued for 17 regions of Kazakhstan on October 13.
