The organizing committee of the 6th World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan has removed the medal table from social media and its official website amid a scandal, reports infohub.kz.
The competition program concluded on September 6. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan summed up the results, reporting 32 gold medals for the national team. This result allowed Kazakhstan to top the final medal standings.
However, the Nomad Games organizers then published a different version. In it, Kyrgyzstan's team had 30 gold medals, while Kazakhstan's count dropped to 29, placing them second overall.
Amid public outcry and contradictory information, the organizers subsequently deleted the Instagram post with the medal table twice. It also disappeared from the official website. As of this publication, the following message appears there:
"The final medal tally of the 6th World Nomad Games will be published after the final information is received from the Games Secretariat. Until official confirmation, the summary table will not be published. Competition results and awards by sport are available in the relevant sections."
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has already congratulated the national team on their successful performance at the Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan.
