North Korea's Missile Administration conducted a test launch of a tactical ballistic missile. According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the test confirmed increased power and accuracy of the weapons, infohub.kz reports.
According to the agency, the launch took place on October 12 and was aimed at verifying upgraded components of the missile system. The testing, focused on the technical development of weapons, was carried out jointly with specialized research institutes.
"The Missile Administration stated that the technical update of the main element, confirmed that day, is a great success heralding important changes in improving the power and accuracy of all systems of offensive weapons," KCNA said.
Recall that in early October, North Korea's armed forces launched an unidentified missile in an easterly direction toward the Sea of Japan, or East Sea.
The exact technical specifications, including range and altitude, are currently being determined. According to Japan's Ministry of Defense, the launched object may be a ballistic missile. Japanese sailors were warned against approaching fallen debris from the projectile.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that South Korean President Lee Jae Myung proposed that North Korea begin talks on a formal end to the Korean War and discuss measures to curb the development of Pyongyang's nuclear program.
