North Korea Says Its Nuclear Status Is Legitimate

North Korea condemned a joint statement by the United States, Japan and South Korea on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and warned that its nuclear status will remain unshakable, infohub.kz reports.

The statement was made by North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui. Her remarks came as the United States, South Korea and Japan expressed their commitment to the denuclearization of North Korea and to cutting off sources of funding for its missile and nuclear programs.

"The louder the United States and its allies cry out for 'denuclearization,' the stronger our state's legitimacy in possessing nuclear weapons becomes, and the greater the need to strengthen them," the minister said.

North Korea believes that possessing nuclear weapons is the highest guarantee of protecting the country's sovereignty.

It is worth noting that North Korea's Defense Ministry recently threatened to invoke the "law on the policy of the state nuclear armed forces" in response to threats from the United States and South Korea.

After that, North Korea's missile forces tested a new type of weapon — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called the new system an "irresistible force."
