In the Almaty Region, actor and blogger Nursultan Zhaksygen has been sentenced to 2 years and 3 months in prison. The criminal case stems from his conflict with his former common-law wife, infohub.kz reports.
According to the official Telegram channel of the Almaty Region courts, the Kaskelen District Court heard the criminal case under Article 274, Part 2, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code — the dissemination of knowingly false information using mass media, telecommunications networks and online platforms.
According to the case materials, the defendant and the victim were in a common-law marriage and have two minor children together. On 14 April 2024, they ceased living together.
The prosecution accused the man of spreading knowingly false information on social media that portrayed the victim as behaving immorally, thereby defaming her honor and dignity.
The court found it proven that the defendant disseminated knowingly false information that caused substantial harm to the victim's rights and legitimate interests. The blogger was found guilty and sentenced to 2 years and 3 months in prison. The sentence is to be served in medium-security penal institutions.
In addition, under Article 50, Part 3 of the Criminal Code, he was stripped for 5 years of the right to engage in journalistic, blogging and other public information activities related to the preparation, posting and dissemination of information intended for an indefinite number of people in mass media, on online platforms, in social networks and other telecommunications networks.
The court ordered the defendant to pay the victim 5 million tenge in compensation for moral damages.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
The victim's lawyer also reported the sentencing of Nursultan Zhaksygen.
