A delegation from the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has conducted its first inspection of Almaty’s preparations for the 10th Winter Asian Games in 2029. Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan Serik Zharasbayev took part in the inspection, infohub.kz reports.

During the visit, meetings were held with representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Almaty city administration, the National Olympic Committee, and the OCA. Discussions focused on the readiness of sports infrastructure, competition organization, and the host’s obligations. The delegation inspected key venues: the Medeu high-mountain complex, Shymbulak ski resort, Sunkar ski complex, as well as Halyk Arena, Almaty Arena, and the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace. Special attention was given to logistics, accommodation, technical zones, and compliance of arenas with international federation standards.

OCA representatives gave a positive assessment of Almaty’s progress in preparing for the Asian Games and agreed on further cooperation, including a schedule for upcoming inspections. The 10th Winter Asian Games will be held in 2029 in Astana and Almaty.
