Kokshetau football club Okzhetpes secured a come-from-behind victory over Shymkent's Ordabasy in a Kazakhstan Premier League round 25 match, reports infohub.kz.
The match, held at the Okzhetpes Stadium in Kokshetau, ended 2:1 in favor of the hosts.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 14th minute of the first half: Norwegian forward Bjorn Johnsen found the net after a pass from Brazilian Everton. However, early in the second half, Okzhetpes' Kazakh midfielder Nurgain Buribaev converted a penalty to restore parity. The winning goal came in the 82nd minute, scored by Brazilian defender Leo Asunpkao.
This victory allowed Okzhetpes to reach 42 points. The team from Kokshetau shares third place in the standings with Astana, which has two games in hand. Ordabasy continues to lead with 55 points. The Shymkent side is one point ahead of Almaty's Kairat, which occupies second place, but Kairat has a game in hand.
