An unusual attraction in Oman, where dozens of chickens were roasted on a giant rotating grill shaped like a Ferris wheel, went viral on social media but was soon shut down. The incident occurred at the Khareef Dhofar 2026 festival in Salalah, Dhofar province, reports infohub.kz.
The creator of the unusual installation is Omani content maker Ahmed Al-Saadi. The attraction, set up in the "Al-Hashi" camp, was a huge open grill resembling a Ferris wheel. Dozens of chickens were cooked simultaneously on its rotating sections, and visitors could watch the cooking process. The creator himself called the project "the world's largest chicken attraction."
Videos of the unusual grill quickly spread across social media and garnered millions of views within days, drawing attention to the festival.
However, on August 3, just four days after its opening, the attraction was temporarily suspended. During an inspection, food safety inspectors found that some of the meat served to visitors was undercooked. The structure was then sealed and can only resume operation after all sanitary violations are addressed.
Earlier, there was a scandal involving a popular restaurant where chicken was fried in the same oil for 66 years.
