According to ABC News, the crash occurred in a field near an airport close to the town of McMinnville. The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office said a Robinson R22 helicopter built in 1995 and an Airbus AS350B3 built in 2018 collided in midair.
Three people were killed in the incident. Two of them were aboard the Robinson — a 22-year-old flight instructor from Texas and a student pilot from the United Kingdom. The sole passenger on the Airbus was a 38-year-old man from Newberg.
According to the sheriff, officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board also arrived at the scene and are leading the crash investigation.
