A video has circulated on social media showing a man in a business suit smoking an e-cigarette right at his workplace during an online meeting. The person in the recording is reported to be a deputy from the Karaganda Region, according to infohub.kz.

"A man who looks very much like the chairman of the Osakarov District Maslikhat of the Karaganda Region, Kanat Sakkulakov, is smoking right at his workplace during a meeting, while ordinary citizens are immediately held accountable for smoking in public places," the Egov.press Telegram channel noted.

The Karaganda Region Police Department confirmed to a NUR.KZ correspondent that the video indeed shows the district maslikhat chairman.

"While monitoring social media, police officers identified a video recording in which a man, while in his office during an online meeting held via the Zoom platform, was smoking an e-cigarette. As a result of the check, the individual was identified. He turned out to be the chairman of the maslikhat of the Osakarov District of the Karaganda Region," the department's press service said.

He has been held administratively liable and fined in connection with the incident.

The Karaganda Region Police Department emphasized that a person's position, status, or public standing does not exempt them from the obligation to comply with legal requirements.

"The law and order are the same for everyone without exception," the department added.

According to information on the official website of the Osakarov District Maslikhat's apparatus, its chairman is Kanat Sakkulakov.
