The increase in sufficiency thresholds for withdrawing part of pension savings has not led to a decrease in demand for Otbasy Bank's programs. This was announced at a briefing in the government by the bank's chairperson Lyazzat Ibragimova, reports NUR.KZ correspondent... reports the website infohub.kz.
"The increase in pension savings thresholds did not significantly affect Otbasy Bank's inflows. The growth rate was over 20% compared to last year, 800 billion tenge since the beginning of the year. Most pension savings were used for housing construction savings deposits, where a person builds their savings history. Therefore, in July-August we even see an increase in the number of applications," said Lyazzat Ibragimova.
She called this the "September 1 effect." "People who have been saving for their children for years. These are all people who saved 50% on 50%. They are not participants in government programs; they invested their own funds. We do not observe any fluctuations due to the increased sufficiency thresholds. The number of rejections also remained at the same level. Rejections are made by our scoring system independently. It makes calculations based more on your previous credit history - debts, overdue payments," the speaker explained.
Recall that on June 6, new minimum sufficiency thresholds for using pension savings were announced in Kazakhstan, calculated for 2026 taking into account changes in the calculation methodology. Later, the ENPF explained why the sufficiency thresholds almost doubled.
