Many people habitually blame tinnitus and dizziness on "blood vessels" and poor circulation, but such assumptions are often wrong. According to otoneurologist Ekaterina Safronova from St. Petersburg, who specializes in dizziness, this combination of symptoms is often linked to inner ear diseases — the doctor published a corresponding post on Threads, according to infohub.kz.
The first condition is Meniere's disease. It is associated with excessive fluid accumulation in the inner ear. It usually causes attacks of severe dizziness, tinnitus and a feeling of fullness in the ear, as well as hearing loss. Symptoms more often occur on one side. According to the doctor, an attack can last from 20 minutes to 12 hours.
The second is labyrinthitis, that is, inflammation of the inner ear. It is accompanied by severe dizziness, tinnitus, hearing loss and fever. Hospitalization may be required.
The third is labyrinthine infarction, as acute disruption of blood supply to the inner ear is called. "Severe dizziness, tinnitus in one ear and sudden hearing loss are characteristic. Call an ambulance immediately!" the doctor advises.
The fourth is superior semicircular canal dehiscence. In this condition, an additional pathological "window" appears in the inner ear. Because of this, loud sound, coughing, sneezing or straining can provoke dizziness. Some people develop an unusual symptom — they begin to hear sounds from their own body, such as eye movement or heartbeat.
The combination of tinnitus and dizziness requires evaluation by a specialist, who will determine the possible cause.
There are also cases when a patient constantly feels dizzy, but there is no damage in the brain. Kursiv Health wrote that this condition is often associated with so-called functional dizziness.
