A fierce fire that broke out in the neonatal ward of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad has killed 15 infants, according to infohub.kz.

According to Anadolu Agency, the blaze started early in the morning after an air conditioner compressor exploded. The tragedy claimed the lives of 15 newborns, with only one baby rescued.

The fire has been extinguished, but efforts to clear the debris are ongoing. A commission has been set up to investigate the cause of the fire.
