Construction of a modern palace of celebrations with a capacity of 1,300 seats has begun in Taraz. This became possible thanks to the instructions of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev aimed at developing social and cultural infrastructure in the regions, reports the website infohub.kz.

The ceremony of laying the capsule in the foundation of the future facility took place in the Balausa microdistrict. The project cost is estimated at 18.5 billion tenge. A plot of 5 hectares has been allocated for the construction of the complex, and the area of the main building will be 13,000 square meters.

The project provides for an auditorium with 1,300 seats, a press center, conference halls, and rooms for creative clubs. The facility will be equipped with modern lighting and sound systems. It is planned to hold concerts, theatrical performances, creative evenings, as well as cultural events of republican and international level here.

The new complex will also create additional opportunities for the development of creative abilities of children and youth, the activities of creative teams, and the implementation of new cultural projects. The palace of celebrations is scheduled to be commissioned in March 2028.

During the ceremony, the akim of Zhambyl region Yerbol Karashukeyev noted the importance of the new facility for the cultural development of Taraz. "The Head of State Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich Tokayev attaches particular importance to the development of culture and art, the creation of comfortable conditions for the population, and the strengthening of the spiritual potential of the country. For Taraz, whose history spans more than 2,000 years, culture and art have always occupied a significant place. Therefore, the formation of modern cultural infrastructure is one of the important tasks. The palace of celebrations under construction will not only give a new impetus to the cultural life of the city but will also contribute to enhancing its tourist attractiveness. On behalf of the residents of Zhambyl region, I express sincere gratitude to the President of the country Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich Tokayev for his attention to the socio-cultural development of the region and support for the implementation of significant projects," said Yerbol Karashukeyev.

The event was also addressed by the chairman of the Zhambyl regional maslikhat Abdaly Nuraliyev and the honored worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan Asylkhan Shunirekov. Speaking on behalf of cultural workers, Asylkhan Shunirekov expressed confidence that the new facility will open additional opportunities for the development of creative teams and young talents.

The akimat of Zhambyl region noted that currently the largest concert hall in Taraz has a capacity of 951 spectators. The building was constructed in 1980 and reconstructed in 2017. The new palace of celebrations will become a modern and more spacious venue for holding major cultural events.
