A relaxing day in nature nearly turned into a tragedy for residents of the North Kazakhstan Region: while fishing on the Ishim River, a married couple came under fire. The incident became known from a post on the Instagram account Skolife_, according to infohub.kz.
According to the authors of the appeal, the incident occurred near the village of Ivanovka in the Kyzylzhar District. At some point, shooting broke out nearby. At first, the sounds came from a distance, but soon bullets began flying literally over people's heads.
The author of the post said that several bullets passed about 50 centimeters from her. She saw bullets piercing through the bushes, quickly dropped to the ground, and shouted to her husband: "They're shooting!" Bullets also flew over her husband's head.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the shooting. The authors of the post are asking: if exercises were being conducted in the area, why weren't people warned in advance, and why weren't warning signs and a cordon set up?
A NUR.KZ correspondent sent a request to the press service of the Police Department of the North Kazakhstan Region. They said that an investigation had been conducted into the post about the sounds of gunfire near the fishing spot.
"It was established that scheduled shooting was taking place at a nearby military facility, and that appropriate signs warned of this. There are no casualties. Police urge the public to comply with warning sign requirements and established safety measures, not to approach areas where shooting is taking place, and not to put themselves and others at risk," the response to the request said.
