In Aktobe, the Sabirov couple have been trying for 27 years to find their son Ruslan, who disappeared in spring 1999. Despite years of searching, his whereabouts remain unknown, reports Almaty.tv.
Ruslan Sabirov disappeared on March 22, 1999. He was 30 at the time. He was married, owned a cafe, and had plans for the future.
According to his mother, Almash Sabirova, on the day of his disappearance, she and her husband had left to visit a sick relative. Ruslan and his two sisters stayed home. "My daughter asked him to go to the market for sweets for tea. We haven't seen him since," she said.
After his disappearance, the family reported to police and began their own search. They traveled across Kazakhstan, checked any information, and even consulted a psychic who claimed Ruslan was alive.
After 27 years, the case remains open. "The Aktobe Regional Police Department is conducting operational search activities to locate Sabirov Ruslan Shamshadinuly, born in 1969, who went missing in 1999. Currently, his whereabouts are unknown," said Yerbolat Sarkulov, head of the police department's press service.
Since the beginning of 2026, about 900 missing person reports have been filed in the Aktobe region. Most have been found, but searches for three people continue. Ruslan's parents still hope he is alive and will one day return home.
