From August 21 to 23, the Park Live Almaty festival took place at Pervomayskiye Prudy in Almaty, attracting 60,000 visitors over three days. Attendees came to see performances by both international and Kazakh artists, according to infohub.kz.
The festival's headliners were American rock musician Jack White, British band Gorillaz, and punk rockers The Offspring. Also taking the stage were The Kills, Bloodywood, CeeLo Green, De La Soul, Glassjaw, Dequine, Dirty Ctrl, Pigz, Kezeñ, and the Russian band "Porez na Sobake".
The general partner of the festival was the Freedom holding company. At its site, visitors could enjoy a quest, a music battle, surf rodeo, VR games, and other entertainment. They could also explore Freedom SuperApp services.
Over the three days, fans of different genres and generations gathered at one venue. The Gorillaz concert on August 22 drew particularly large crowds: that day, Pervomayskiye Prudy was practically filled with tens of thousands of people who came to the festival.
However, this scale also revealed another side. 60,000 people is a volume that clearly requires a dedicated venue with appropriate infrastructure near Almaty. Pervomayskiye Prudy is obviously not designed for such massive events. During the festival, guests complained about traffic jams, high taxi fares, a shortage of cars, and major difficulties both entering and leaving.
Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that while festival guests were looking for parking, local residents decided to profit from the influx of cars.
