Kazakh artist Pasha Kas has published a new work addressing the issue of development in the Kok-Zhailau gorge, voicing his opposition to the project. The painting depicts a waiter holding a plate with hills and trees, over which looms a large hungry figure symbolizing businessmen. This was reported by infohub.kz.
In the description of the post, Kas drew a parallel between attitudes toward nature and restaurant service. "But nature is not a restaurant. It is not a service that can be bought. We almost never ask: maybe development is also the ability to stop in time?" the artist wrote.
At the end of his statement, Kas explicitly expressed support for eco-activists and defenders of Kok-Zhailau.
Pasha Kas is a Kazakh artist from Almaty, working primarily in street art and addressing social and environmental themes in his works. In January 2019, he already addressed the topic of Kok-Zhailau in his work "Reflection," dedicated to the environmental problems of Almaty, tree felling, and the threat of destruction of the mountain gorge.
