Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that peacekeepers from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will not be deployed to the country, according to infohub.kz.
Speaking in parliament, the politician accused the opposition of seeking to bring in the CSTO military contingent. He said this will not happen.
"CSTO peacekeepers will not enter Armenia, and no peacekeepers at all will enter Armenia, because peace has been established, and the peacekeeper is the people. Yes, including the people of Armenia and the people of Azerbaijan are the most reliable peacekeepers, and no foreign peacekeeper will enter the territory of Armenia," Pashinyan emphasized.
The Prime Minister noted that Armenia should not seek guarantees of its existence from various geopolitical centers, but should itself ensure its right to "live, develop, and exist" through daily work.
Earlier, it was reported that former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan was summoned to the Anti-Corruption Committee of the republic, where he was detained. Later it became known that his son was detained along with him. They have been charged with corruption, including the embezzlement of state property and receiving bribes worth billions of drams.
In addition, according to media reports, the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, was also summoned to the Anti-Corruption Committee, where he was also charged.
