Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that the country will not abandon its path toward European Union membership, as reported by infohub.kz.
According to News.am, Pashinyan reiterated that Yerevan has no intention of revoking the law initiating negotiations for EU accession. He noted that the initiative for this law came from civil society.
The Prime Minister also commented on recent remarks by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. "Adopting this law was the right step. And I view the ongoing process positively. Who is now saying, 'Who needs this Armenia? It has nowhere to go'? Before the law was adopted, such statements were made," Pashinyan said.
He expressed confidence that Armenia has achieved significant progress in its foreign policy, largely thanks to this law. "There are partners who say, 'Maybe you should revoke it.' And I constantly respond that this is impossible. Because it reflects not only the political will of the parliament but also of the Armenian people," the head of government emphasized.
It is worth recalling that Alexander Lukashenko, in an interview on August 20, 2024, stated: "Who needs Armenians except us? Nobody needs them. Let them develop their economy and focus on what they have."
Pashinyan responded two years later. In late July 2026, he said that Yerevan had found an answer to Lukashenko's question about who needs Armenia.
