In Thailand, a crowd gathered this morning outside a police station in Pattaya demanded the death penalty for the suspects in the murder of a brother and sister from Russia and a local family, according to the website infohub.kz.
Among the crowd were journalists and local residents who had taken part in the search for the missing Russians and the Thai family. As the suspects were being led out of the building to be taken to court, people tried to break through to them, shouting: "Death to them! Death penalty! Such people must not be allowed to live!"
A woman who testified said: "Before killing my neighbors, a family of three, Pong raped a minor girl in front of her parents, who were tied hand and foot. Then he shot all three with the same pistol he used to kill the Russian boy. He told this during the interrogation at night."
A lawyer who will defend the two suspects noted that there are two criminal cases: murder and concealment of the bodies of the Russians and the Thai family. "In both cases, the Criminal Code provides for the death penalty as the maximum punishment," he said.
The Russians went missing on the morning of July 26. Later, their Honda ADV 150 motorcycle was found disassembled and buried near an old cemetery in Chonburi province. Two suspects were then detained and confessed to the murder of 22-year-old Diana Nazimova and her 17-year-old brother Roman.
According to their testimony, they planned to steal the motorcycle, but when the young people resisted, they shot the younger brother and beat his older sister to death. The suspects also indicated the burial site. Next to the Russians, the bodies of three Thais were found: a man, a woman, and a young girl.
