A large-scale project to extract coal at the Zhamantuz deposit and process it deeply to produce humic fertilizers is planned in the Pavlodar region. The investment is estimated at 65 billion tenge, reports infohub.kz.

The project was presented at a meeting between the akim of the Pavlodar region, Asain Baikhanov, and the management of the Uzbek company Kaoling Torg. The company's head, Kakhramon Toshpulatov, stated the investor's intention to create a full-cycle industrial complex, which will provide up to 350 new jobs.

The regional akim noted the initiative's promise, especially in the context of developing coal chemistry and deepening coal processing. He emphasized that the project aligns with the strategic tasks outlined by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who called coal a strategic asset requiring efficient use with minimal environmental impact. Baikhanov also stressed the importance of producing organic fertilizers and studying the possibilities of their use in the region's agriculture.

Following the meeting, the relevant department was instructed to continue interaction with the investor and ensure comprehensive support for the project.

Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan's largest coal mining company, Bogatyr Komir, increased its net profit almost 43 times in 2025 to 29.1 billion tenge. The company's revenue grew to 192.2 billion tenge, and operating profit to 40.4 billion tenge. The company mines at the Bogatyr and Severny open pits of the Ekibastuz deposit in the Pavlodar region.
