On July 20, six people died from gas poisoning in a sewer well at the Aqtogai Milk dairy farm in the Pavlodar region. The victims included a minor, reports the website infohub.kz.
The families of the deceased workers will receive financial support. Aqtogai Milk has pledged to pay them their salaries until the end of the year, assist with loan repayments, and cover the maintenance and education of the victims' minor children until they turn 18. State authorities will also provide assistance.
The incident occurred while repairing an electric pump in the sewer well. Six men born in 1963, 1975, 1983, 1998, 2006, and 2009 died on the spot from gas poisoning — making the youngest aged 16–17. Another victim was hospitalized at the Aktogay District Hospital with moderate carbon dioxide poisoning.
The Aqtogai Milk farm, according to open sources, is owned by Alexander Terentyev, a deputy of the Pavlodar Regional Maslikhat. He expressed condolences and confirmed that the company would provide assistance to the families.
Police have opened a criminal investigation into the incident.
