In Pavlodar, a man walking along a sidewalk suddenly fell through the ground into boiling water, sustaining serious burns, reports infohub.kz.

The man's sister shared the incident on social media. According to her, her brother was walking along the sidewalk on Dyusenov Street, 10 in the city center with his 4-year-old child. "At some point, the ground gave way under his feet, and he ended up in boiling water. Not an open manhole. Not a construction site. Not an emergency area. Just an ordinary road where people walk every day. As a result, he suffered second-degree burns," the woman said.

She noted that if the child had fallen in, he might not have survived. She called for an investigation and for those responsible to be held accountable.

Pavlodar Heat Networks responded that damage to the heating network had occurred at that location. "Specialists have been dispatched to the site. Appropriate measures will be taken," the company said.

The regional health department reported that the man, born in 1991, was hospitalized in the burn unit of Pavlodar City Hospital No. 1 with thermal burns of both shins, 2-3 degree severity, covering 7% of his body. His condition is currently assessed as moderate.
