A schoolgirl in Pavlodar has been urgently hospitalized with suspected tuberculosis, but the school has not been closed for quarantine. This was reported by the Astana TV channel, according to infohub.kz.

According to the TV channel, the disease was detected during a routine fluorography. An emergency notification about the case at the school was received by the city's sanitary and epidemiological control department on October 7.

It is noted that the hospitalized high school student's family has four children — they and their mother were examined. Their diagnosis was not confirmed, but disinfection was carried out.

"We have launched an epidemiological investigation of the household focus and at the girl's place of study. We are now actively identifying contacts for examination. The disinfection service carried out final disinfection of the household focus and at the place of study," said Gulya Almenova, deputy head of the Pavlodar sanitary and epidemiological control department.

Meanwhile, the educational process at the gymnasium was not interrupted. Classes were held daily according to schedule, and parents, as the TV channel notes, were told that there are no grounds for closing the class or the gymnasium for quarantine. Students are receiving routine Mantoux tests. It is emphasized that no other cases of the disease have been detected so far.

"The entire class in which she studied, the teachers who taught in this class, have all undergone — those who were due for tomographic examination also had Mantoux tests," said Alma Aituarova, deputy head of the regional education department.

Information about the minor's health status is not subject to disclosure, the department added.

"The girl was admitted to the phthisiopulmonology center and is receiving anti-tuberculosis treatment. Her condition is satisfactory. She is tolerating the treatment well," said Olga Lukashenko, freelance phthisiopediatrician of Pavlodar region.
